Terence Jeyaretnam - Director
Terence is a Director of Net Balance in Melbourne
and holds a degree in Environmental Engineering, is a Chartered Professional
Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia. He is
only one of six professionals globally to be awarded the grade of Lead
Sustainability Assurance Practitioner by the International Register
of Certified Auditors (IRCA), the accreditation program that is aligned
with AccountAbility in the UK to certify sustainability report auditors.
Terence has worked in corporate sustainability/sustainability reporting
with over 100 companies and has verified the largest number of sustainability
and environmental reports in Australia and New Zealand. His experience
includes undertaking Australia wide stakeholder consultation in developing
the National Framework for Public Environmental Reporting for the Federal
Government in 1998. He has also published five benchmarking studies
on environmental and sustainability reports, and undertook some of the
earliest verification and assurance programs of environmental and sustainability
reports in Australia.
Terence is on the Board of the Australian Institute doe Social and
Ethical Accountability (AISEA), joining AISEA as an inaugural board
member in 2003. He is also a judge for the ACCA and ESAA Sustainability
Reporting Awards and the Ethical Investor Corporate Sustainability Awards.
Terence is the Chair of the Sustainability Committee of Engineers Australia.
In 2005 Terence was named as one of the top 10 most influential young
engineers in Australia by Engineers Australia.

Ken Fung - Director
Ken is a change management consultant who has over
30 years experience in developing and implementing corporate and natural
resource sustainability and environmental management strategies. The
present focus of Ken's work is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
which includes sustainability policy and strategy development, sustainability
management and reporting. In response to the necessity of developing
remedial and adaptation actions due to climate change, Ken is substantially
engaged in directing work involving energy reduction, minimization of
greenhouse gas emission, and moving towards carbon neutrality.
Ken has spent a number of years developing a Research Institute which
provides environmental and social performance data to organizations
for Socially Responsible Investment (SRI). He has an MBA and was also
formerly a Principal Consultant in natural resource management at URS
Australia and the Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation (SMEC) Australia,
where he worked mainly in the field of water and catchment management.
Prior to his career in environmental and CSR consulting, Ken was involved
in agricultural research spending the first part of his career in pesticide
research and soil and plant nutrition diagnostic work, culminating in
his appointment as Assistant Director in Consumer Protection and Public
Health at the State Chemistry Laboratory in Victoria Australia. He later
worked in the policy area at the Department of Agriculture and Rural
Affairs before being appointed as Manager of the State Water Laboratory
Victoria Australia. The Laboratory was later privatized as Water EcoScience
Pty Ltd and Ken was appointed General Manager and later as General Manager
AWT Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
As an environmental and CSR consultant, Ken has gained a reputation
of excellence in technical quality and customer service. He has worked
with Terence Jeyaretnam over the past ten years implementing environmental
and sustainability strategies within companies, developing sustainability
indicators and establishing frameworks for sustainability data management.
At the beginning of 2007, Ken and Terence set up Net Balance Management
Group providing sustainability services to corporations in both private
and public sectors. They also set up Net Balance Foundation to meet
similar demands in the Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) and non-profit
sectors, recognizing the importance of the role SMEs and NGOs has to
play in developing and achieving sustainability goals.

Dr. Robyn Leeson - Director
Robyn has twenty years of experience in environment and sustainability-related fields for all levels of government, the private sector as a consultant and NGOs, with specific experience in the development and implementation of sustainability strategies, climate change, water efficiency and sustainability reporting programs. Robyn’s key achievements have been:
• Development of a world first regulatory program in resource efficiency (energy, water & waste) for the State’s largest 300 businesses. Robyn has spent the past year as the director of the EREP program at EPA Victoria.
• Founding of the Centre for Public Agency Sustainability Reporting. Robyn was the Director of the Centre for two years and worked with a range of public sector agencies on sustainability reporting.
• Member of the Global Reporting Initiative’s Public Sector Working Group.
• Led environmental and sustainability initiatives at the City of Melbourne as Manager, City Sustainability, including setting up the Sustainability Fund, developing the greenhouse strategy in 1999, prepared the organisation’s first sustainability report and contributed to planning the six green star Council House 2.
• Invited conference presentations in North America, Africa and Europe.
Robyn has also spent time prior to the last three roles at the City of Wyndham, CSIRO, Ministry of Planning and Environment, Monash University and URS.

Kirsten Simpson - Partner
Kirsten has nine years professional experience managing and implementing
environmental impact, risk assessment and sustainability projects across
the mining, industrial and corporate sectors. She holds an honours degree
in Earth Sciences from Monash University and a Masters of Environment
from Melbourne University.
In recent years, Kirsten has undertaken a number of sustainability
projects within the mining sector that have focused on resource recycling
and reuse, water conservation, rehabilitation mine closure planning,
stakeholder engagement and corporate reporting. She has actively participated
in Environment Review Committees and she is also a member of the Environment
and Communities Working Group with the Minerals Council of Australia.
Kirsten is the Net Balance's Victorian manager and jointly leads the
Net Balance Assurance business line. During Kirsten's time with Net
Balance she has worked with clients in the mining, manufacturing, transport,
electricity, water, investment banking and government sectors. Her core
capabilities include the provision of sustainability assurance and advisory
services, environmental due diligence, policy development and stakeholder
engagement.

Ross Wyatt - Partner
Ross Wyatt has over 25 years experience in senior marketing and sustainability roles which has included management of some of Australia’s highest profile brands, and leadership of a major charity organisation, Starlight Children’s Foundation. In this role he has worked with many major corporations, assisting them in the development and implementation of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies.
Recognising that many companies were struggling to make CSR more than a “bolt-on obligation”, Ross pioneered the concept of Corporate Social Exchange, a practical process where firms maximise the competitive advantage they derive from producing positive social and environmental outcomes.
Ross holds a degree in Marketing from Monash University and has lectured extensively in the MBA program with James Cook University in Australia and Singapore in the fields of Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, International Marketing, Services Marketing, Marketing Communications, and Strategic Management and has also conducted research into the field of quantification of business ethics. At JCU, Ross headed the university’s External Relations function and led the formation of numerous partnerships between corporates, research entities, government and regional economic development organisations.
Ross joins Net Balance to strategically develop Net Balance Foundation into a world-class not-for-profit entity in the sustainability marketplace and to lead the development of the Social Sustainability practice in Net Balance Management Group.

Grant
Bransgrove - Senior Associate
Grant Bransgrove holds an honours degree in Environmental Science from
the University of Newcastle and spent the first seven years of his career
in the utilities sector with WSN Environmental Solutions and Sydney
Water. He had a significant role in moving both organisations to full
and integrated 'triple bottom line' reporting with both companies now
national leaders within their respective sectors.
He has spent the past twelve months working as a corporate sustainability
consultant with Net Balance Management Group and the not for profit
Net Balance Foundation where he has worked with a number of private
and public sector corporations on greenhouse and climate change issues
including greenhouse gas accounting and assurance, strategy development
and life cycle assessment.
Grant is one of Australia's most experienced practitioners in environmental
reporting and has extensive knowledge of the major sustainability challenges
and opportunities facing modern corporations. Grant was a key internal
advisor to the WSN Environmental Solutions Executive and Board on climate
change issues, including the identification of risks and opportunities
within a rapidly changing regulatory environment.

Amanda Nuttall - Senior
Associate
Amanda has 11 years professional experience in the Australian financial
market and sustainability sectors. Amanda leads Net Balance's Environmental
Management business line and also provides key input, project management
and advice on Assurance and Climate Change assignments. Recent projects
for clients in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors have included
the provision of AA1000AS Sustainability Report Assurance, the development
of carbon inventory and carbon reduction strategies; the verification
of carbon neutral assignments, and climate change research and analysis.
Prior to joining Net Balance, she worked for the savewater! Alliance
where she was responsible for the management of innovative behavioural
change and community engagement projects in partnership with key stakeholder
groups. In this role, Amanda was extensively involved in key stakeholder
engagement activities actively promoting and supporting integrated delivery
of water conservation initiatives across key stakeholder groups. She
also significantly supported and promoted innovative technologies and
processes to inform decision making in water and energy conservation
by various industry sectors. Earlier in her career, Amanda also worked
in international trade finance with a focus on the foreign exchange
and futures markets, as well as currency and interest rate hedging.
She holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Monash University, a Graduate
Certificate in Development Studies from the University of Melbourne
and is currently completing her final subject towards a Master of Environment
degree, also at the University of Melbourne.

Daniel Court - Senior Associate
Daniel Court is a Senior Associate with Net Balance and has seven years
experience in the sustainability services sector, specialising in greenhouse
measurement, management, mitigation and adaptation. He holds a Master
of Environment and Sustainability and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering
degrees from Monash University. His previous work experience spans both
the private and public sectors. He has undertaken greenhouse gas emission
inventory development and analysis programs, formulated emission reduction
strategies, monitored point source and ambient pollutant levels, devised
water quality and consumption demand management processes and developed
sustainability policies for organisations. In his most recent position
before joining Net Balance, Daniel oversaw a number of projects aimed
at embedding sustainability principals into local government service
delivery.
Since joining Net Balance in 2007, Daniel has undertaken projects such
as the compilation of Carbon Footprints for organizations, coordinated
submissions to state and federal government programs such as Greenhouse
Challenge Plus and Energy Efficiency Opportunities, calculated the carbon
offset requirements for corporate events and facilitated the purchase
of requisite emission credits and undertaken the assurance of corporate
sustainability reports in accordance with AA1000 guidelines.

Kim Farrant - Senior Associate
Kim has five years professional experience in the sustainability consulting
sector, and previously as a structural design and environmental engineer.
Since joining Net Balance she has worked with clients spanning the insurance,
superannuation, transport, oil and gas, mining and retail industries,
as well as a number of government departments. Kim jointly leads Net
Balance's Assurance business line and is Net Balance's Business Development
Manager. She has skills in the provision of sustainability assurance
and advisory services, greenhouse gas inventory development, life cycle
analysis and policy development. Kim is currently also co-ordinating
the Asia Pacific Working Group of the United Nations Environment Program's
"Principles for Responsible Investment".
In her previous roles, Kim undertook an internship with Sustainable
Asset Management, where she was responsible for the assessment and benchmarking
of ASX200 companies against triple bottom line criteria. Kim also worked
for a number of years in the engineering industry, in addition to her
structural design role serving on office sustainability committees,
undertaking office ecological foot printing and developing an office
green travel plan.
Kim graduated from the University of Adelaide with 1st class Honours
in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Economics. As a Commonwealth
Scholar, Kim completed an M.Sc in Nature, Society and Environmental
Policy at the University of Oxford. Her Oxford dissertation researched
the role that shareholder resolutions play in holding multinational
corporations socially and environmentally accountable. Recently, she
completed the Melbourne Future Sustainability Leaders Program.

Michelle Justus - Associate
Michelle has five years experience working in Victorian local governments
in the area of environmental policy. In particular, her work has focused
on incorporating sustainability into councils corporate strategies,
operations and services. Most recently, in the role of Project Manager
with the not for profit Western Port Greenhouse Alliance, she worked
with National, State and local governments and other stakeholders on
an innovative climate change impacts and adaptations project covering
Western Port. Michelle will continue this role through a secondment
by Net Balance Foundation for one to two days a week until mid 2008.
Since joining Net Balance, Michelle has worked on an extensive range
of projects predominantly within the sustainability strategy and assurance
business lines.
Michelle also volunteers much of her time to the not for profit Lord
Somers Camp and Power House youth organisation, working on social and
environmental programs.

Rebecca Allonby - Associate
As an associate Rebecca provides research, development and consultancy
services with the Stakeholder Engagement & Social and Environmental
Risk Management function of Net Balance. With a background in sustainability
and organisational culture change, projects with Net Balance include
sustainability report writing, stakeholder engagement, workplace strategy
development, research and benchmarking. Rebecca also works on secondment
from 'Net Balance Foundation' supporting clients which include World
Vision on sustainability and corporate responsibility related projects.
Prior to joining Net Balance Management, Rebecca worked in the UK in
roles with the organisational development consultancy the 'Great Place
to Work Institute UK' where she compiled the annual Best Workplaces
List for publication in the Financial Times, managed their Social Partnership
networks and ran several of the institute's research projects.
Rebecca's other experience includes time spent with the international
not-for-profit institute 'AccountAbility', involved in launching their
key multi-stakeholder 'A21' initiative, on corporate responsibility
and sustainability issues. Working with prominent figures from international
business, the UN and civil society Rebecca coordinated more than 30
partnership and research forums across AccountAbility's work streams,
including sustainability assurance and reporting, stakeholder engagement,
strategic planning, partnership effectiveness and the development of
national and regional competitiveness.
She holds a Masters degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from
the School of Oriental and African Studies, London with a focus on the
impact of water privatisation internationally, and a Bachelors degree
in History and Politics from the University of Warwick.

Yeshwant Mudaliar - Associate
Yeshwant has three years professional experience working with Ernst
& Young in the Financial Services industry since completing his
Bachelor of Commerce degree, with majors in finance and accounting.
He has worked with a diverse client base, including some of the country's
largest financial institutions, such as National Australia Bank, Bendigo
Bank, Australian Unity as well as boutique stockbroking firms and emerging
companies.
Having performed business diagnostics on client processes, coupled
with financial analysis of statutory accounts, Yeshwant has developed
a sound understanding of and expertise in operational and financial
risk factors and recommending mitigating actions. Key projects have
included the application of accounting and auditing standards to verify
the accuracy and completeness of disclosed treasury instruments, traded
commodities and equity settled executive remuneration.
Yeshwant is currently undertaking studies to gain qualification as
a Chartered Accountant with an expected completion date of October 2008.
In between studying, Yeshwant has spent time working as a volunteer
in varying capacities with the RSPCA.

Natalie Falzon - Associate
Natalie has four years professional experience in the environmental
sustainability industry in both the private and public sectors. In particular
her work has focused on developing a broad range of sustainability and
environmental reporting processes and policies. In previous roles Natalie
has written/reviewed sustainability reports, undertaken greenhouse inventories,
managed international cross sector environmental partnerships and developed
environmental policy for local government.
She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Environment (Governance,
Policy and Communication) from the University of Melbourne. Natalie
has also held various voluntary positions with Environment Victoria
and was a Research Assistant at the Cancer Council of Victoria.

Cory Jemison - Associate
Cory has two years of experience consulting on energy and environmental issues at the US based firm ICF International. While at ICF, Cory worked on greenhouse gas related projects for the US Environmental Protection Agency including developing greenhouse gas accounting tools, analysing the strength of GHG reduction targets for companies interested in participating in the US EPA Climate Leaders program, writing technical memos on the costs of carbon capture and storage and co-firing biomass with coal in power plants, and performing economic analyses on the costs of implementing potential greenhouse gas programs. Cory also helped to update the NEEDS (National Electric Energy Data System) database which holds performance specifications on all major electric generating units in the United States.
Cory holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) from Hamilton College with a Mathematics major and an Environmental Studies minor.

Megan Haines - Associate
Megan holds a first class honours degree in Environmental Science from Western Australia’s Curtin University of Technology. Since graduating, Megan has been working as an Environmental Consultant at Cardno in Western Australia. During her 3 years at Cardno, Megan specialised in Waste Management. Megan was responsible for project managing an Alternative Waste Technology project for the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council in Perth. Her role involved assisting with community consultation within six Local Governments. In addition, she was involved in recommending sites, technologies, waste collection systems and contract delivery mechanisms for the Regional Council.rom
Megan has also assisted the Pilbara Regional Council to develop Western Australia’s first state endorsed Strategic Waste Management Plan. The Plan focused on the coordination of recycling in the Pilbara, increased public awareness of waste management and the acquisition of equipment and technology.
Since joining Net Balance, Megan has been assisting in sustainability strategies and assurance projects. She is also undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Business at the Curtin Graduate School of Business.

Natasha Hildebrand-Lockie - Project Consultant
Natasha holds a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering (Hons) and a
Bachelors degree in Arts (English) from the University of Melbourne. She
has gained work experience at Carlton & United Beverages, in community
consultation for City West Water and in working for the engineering consulting
company WorleyParsons. She is currently completing a Masters of Environment
degree at the University of Melbourne. Since joining Net Balance, Natasha
has undertaken a resource efficiency legislation research project to assist
business to navigate the differing Federal and State government requirements,
a greenhouse gas life cycle analysis project for Greenhouse Friendly and
a packaging review.

Caron Denny - Administration / Marketing Co-Ordinator
Caron Denny commenced with Net Balance as Administration Assistant / Marketing Co-ordinator in April 2008. Her role at Net Balance combines administrative tasks and project work managed by our senior associates, partners and directors.
Caron has over 10 years experience of extensive customer service and support in retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism with training and experience through some of the best employers both in the UK and abroad.
Caron holds a degree in Music Industry Management from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University with a focus on Event Management and Marketing.

Ro Coroneos - Director
Ro heads the Sydney office of the Net Balance Management Group.
Ro's career path over the past 20 years has traversed a range of disciplines
across private and public sectors, from real estate valuation and business
consulting, energy and water utilities, to climate change regulation,
policy and sustainability.
During her time in the New South Wales public sector, Ro successfully
project managed legislative reforms in energy and urban water, working
closely with State Owned Corporations, central agencies such as NSW
Treasury and The Cabinet Office, and economic regulators such as IPART
and jurisdictional counterparts, on full retail competition in NSW electricity
and gas markets; utilities licensing, corporatisation of NSW's bulk
water delivery business, and the early stages of establishing new national
energy regulators Australian Energy Market Commission and Australian
Energy Regulator.
Her main career highlight however, was helping to establish the legal
framework for the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme, which in 2003,
was the world's first mandatory greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme.
In 2004, Ro moved to Lend Lease, and was appointed General Manager of
the Global Sustainability Group. There, she worked on a range of unprecedented
projects in an effort to integrate the Lend Lease's understanding of
its social, environmental and economic impacts across its global operations.
These included: Lend Lease's inaugural sustainability report, piloting
property-sector specific sustainability metrics, to international advocacy
with organizations such as the World Business Council for Sustainable
Development.
Ro holds a Masters degree in Communications and Cultural Studies, a
Commerce degree majoring in Land Economy, an Honours degree in Law,
and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance.
Ro is Vice President of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association
(NSW), and co-founder of Responsible Business Forum, a Sydney-based
professional sustainability discussion group. Ro is also non-executive
Director of the Western Sydney Parklands Trust.

Alan Dayeh - Senior Associate
Alan has over twelve years experience in the financial services and
advisory services sector with core experience in performance measurement
and management reporting, operational risk frameworks and strategic
improvement initiatives. Prior to Net Balance, he worked in KPMGs
Risk Advisory Services practice for seven years and prior to that three
years with PricewaterhouseCoopers and three years with Westpac Banking
Corporation. Alans key clients have included Westpac Banking Corporation,
Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Microsoft Australia, HSBC Bank and AMP.
In the financial services sector, Alan has worked on a number of CSR
related projects covering CSR report verification, CSR strategic reviews,
and benchmarking sustainability measures against frameworks including
the GRI.
At Net Balance, Alan focuses on assisting
clients with their ever growing sustainability reporting and data management
needs, integrating sustainability practices into existing performance
and risk management frameworks and measuring the financial and non-financial
value of sustainability initiatives and strategies. Through Net Balance
Foundation, Alan works with non-profit clients to develop their sustainability
strategies and the creation of unique business models that promote sustainability
and environmental principles. Within KPMG, Alan was mandated with redesigning
the partnership model between KPMG and Earthwatch to create greater
value out of the relationship and further integrate environmental initiatives
into KPMGs internal processes. As a fellow of the Earthwatch Institute,
he also worked with them to advocate the Earthwatch program through
formal presentations to Australian organisations.
Alan holds two Bachelors degrees, originally
one in Business and Finance and recently the second in Environmental
Biology both received from the University of Technology, Sydney. He
also has practical experience in project management, process redesign,
strategy development, performance and management reporting, Microsoft
automated solutions, operational and financial risk management, and
financial investment/strategic analysis.
